I talked to my old lead about this and he’s like yeah sometimes I’ll just quit teams for 5 hours or else nothing would get done.
-
@ostream I can't do that either. Because then the manager would be like -> "Why do you need 4 hours to change the color of this button?"

hjk10157312y@ostream is correct here. Just record the communications and time lost for a day.
Whenever you are responsible for something you don't have influence over your have to fix it asap. In this case it's easy to make them feel the pain and have them fail and be accountable for that failure.
In another job they wanted super open lines with IT. We couldn't get any meaningful work done but support was great. When I was grilled about not getting one of the stupid sales promises done I confronted them with the phone log. And that is not even including mail, DM and walk-ins.
Me: If you want this level of support where we are high paid call-center workers you don't get to demand any other work done.
With a call every 5 min coming in no prioritisation on my side is going to do anything.

Biggest distraction while working?
Management.
-> Get ticket to work on. Put an estimate and start working.
-> Management Guy #1: Hey could u please look into... this and that?
-> Management Guy #2: Hey could u please update me on (Old ticket that was fixed and updated on Jira but they would rather ask me in person).
-> Management Guy #3: Do you want to come outside for a smoke break, I know our last one was about half an hour ago but still, just 5 mins won't hurt your day.
-> Co-worker: Hey could you help with this task I am working on? I swear it won't take more than 5 mins. (It takes about an hour).
-> Miss my deadline for the ticket and get flamed for it by manager.
Okay, I didn't mean to say anything about co-workers as a distraction. It's very minimal.
