Boss asked me to make a script to automate some tasks. After some days i found out that my task will replace the job of one of our colleagues.
Now the *script, that looks like a big project, is almost done.
Feel for the guy.

Are that very complicated scripts or very simple tasks?

@CWins I don't know how to answer to this question, i think it's a little bit of both. I think he will not be fired tho, he has other things to do here if this drops, but i kinda find the situation funny.

Hey, try been optimistic! It might free that dude to do some more important stuff

I replace all my work with scripts all the time... I still have work... (And a Medium post)

Yeah but seriously ... If his job could be replaced by a bunch of automated scripts then it wasn't a very significant position.

@cyberlord64 it is important. He is not doing only those tasks, but its kind of 50-60% of his work

@cyberlord64 not always true. The Drs who monitor robotic heart surgeries are already replaced but we still need them there

@0x41414141 why didn't he automate it himself? Then he can slack off 50% of the time until someone finds out...

@billgates because he is not a programmer, his job is to do something else besides coding. He's performing some static, and dynamic malware analysis, he is beginner (1 year+ on this) so he mostly does the easiest part that i am trying to make automatic

Time to mentor him on not being organic automation.

@0x41414141 Malware analysts are hard to replace, unless the company is only worried about observing email attachment behavior. Perhaps they need to acquire more infosec skills?

@Wallpaper i explained myself up on a comment, read that, thanks

@0x41414141 That isn't what I meant. Malware analyst roles in non threat research institutions usually aren't needed.
