wasabi942yIf you have too much free time on your end, sure why not. If you can get paid for knowing Elixir, go for it.
I think it's always fun to learn new stuff, but only you know if it could be worth your time! -
Sure, if you want to make highly concurrent, resilient and/or distributed systems, Erlang or Elixir are the way to go.

I had a subject on it last semester and learned all the proper tools as well because otherwise I would've felt I was wasting my time. It's a really fun language, very difficult to use efficiently outside its domain though. I wonder if it can be used for gamedev, opportunistic parallelization pairs well with a lot of common techniques there.

hjk10157312yWithout knowing the goal or is always going to be: it depends.
It's it worth learning concrete pouring. It's you have a paying job and have to do it for a shed probably not. Get a contractor.
If you want to build your own house it might be a goal to learn everything. Also it's a lot cheaper if you can get it done right. -
tw0011812yAdditional information:
I'm learning stuff mostly for fun. A few things on my mind are Rust, Elixir or some kind of LISP.
I do have personal project ideas. That means least effort for best coverage of devices. The first thing that comes to my mind is Dart/Flutter. But on the other hand, it doesn't give me as much excitement as these other niche languages. -
hjk10157312yIf you want to do some fun with functional programming elixer comes highly recommended.
-
@tw001 I can heartily recommend Rust especially if you have projects, I think it's much easier to get shit done with it than with Elixir.
