    Same! Thought java was short for javascript. So when searching specific problems i added java for a while, found out I got much better result by adding jQuery instead, which I knew improved upon js.

    I heard that there is a new language called kotlin that runs on the jvm and can be compiled to js source code .

    Kotlin can in fact compile to both Java and Javascript. Also Google made it an official Android language today so support for it is promising.
