I hate windows. Today I opened nvidia geforce experience and in the list of my games at the end there was a new game: "Minecraft: windows 10 edition", WTF???, I never installed it! Like always a google search saved me: After last updates windows will install suggested apps WITHOUT your permission. And to disable this you must edit a key in regedit. Not even a switch in system settings! Microsoft wtf are you doing?

    Yep Microsoft installed fucking Candy Crush on my box without permission. Apparently they think they own my PC..

    I was so surprised when I saw notification about my Skype update was done. I have never installed skype :v

    @runfrodorun I've already got my cannons at the ready :D
  • 7
    @runfrodorun we are ready for them ;-) i use windows only to play games. And i hate myself when i press enter on grub to start windows.

    @shelladdicted Yep, same here

    @shelladdicted I always do 5 hail st. Ignucius's after booting windows to avoid going to hell when i die.

    You are scaring! 😅

    @pear i would say angry!

    Here because you'd expect me to be.

    HOW BOU DAH?

    Next thing you know they'll be installing spyware in the background that sends everything to the government...
  • 1
    @runfrodorun Reminds me of SimCity a few years back... It definitely won't run locally cos there's too much simulation processing going on. Unless there's PR fallout, and then we'll quiet install a patch and not tell anyone.

    But I was going with a more pointed, Microsoft leaving backdoors in for Snowden et al

    This honestly is fucking frustrating. Windows is great in so many aspects but then its UX is totally ruined by retarded policies like these and how they never provide a simple direct way for users to make their desired changes to how it works. They have the whole OS on lock down as badly as Apple has theirs...

    Just moving back to win XP and LINUX completely lol

    And right now, i just found out that it installed facebook and skype on a new installation of windows because it thought I needed it. NO! I FUCKING DON'T NEED A FACEBOOK APP AUTO INSTALLED.
  • 1
    Just disable them, gee wizz.
  • 2
    As Linux user ubtuntu does the same thing. Damn amazon application! Currently I use manjaro and as also way to much pre-installed software.
  • 0
    @J4s0n I was also going to mention this, but didn't want to give everyone the satisfaction that they were looking for.
  • 0
    @drRoss I love to satisfy lonely nerds
  • 2
    @J4s0n amazon is a preinstalled application, not an application installed after the fact without permission. And i think you can actually disable that by unchecking install "third party applications" on install.
    Imagine if canonical just installed random shit on people's pcs with root. People would lose their shit.
  • 0
    @J4s0n What are your rates?
  • 0
    @penguin I dunno. After using Windows so many time, hell may not be too bad.
  • 2
    Thats why you should never windows update.
    (thats me, and i get infected by ransomwares at least once a month!)
  • 2
    @runfrodorun there is no defending this. I like Windows but wtf? Installing bloat ware without my permission? That shit is fucked up!
  • 1
    I see your pain, but still don't understand why you people sadomize yourself? Nobody is forcing you to use WinX. Or Skype. And you really can't say you didn't know MS will do shit like that, it's not your first day in IT, is it? You should have known better.
    I use win 8.1 with updates disabled and a scheduled script, that kills and uninstalls spyware updates in case I install them by mistake. All of this is for games only of course, for work and home I use Linux.

    Something something install Arch.

    And by your nickname I would have thought that you used something entirely different. 😞
  • 0
    This didn't happen to me when i upgraded...

    @CorruptComputer That's an interesting point. I don't think any of us ever take into consideration how it's still a business they're running and they need to make money somehow 🤣

    @Bernarnold they broke steam? How? It's been working perfectly fine for me since uodating... 😕
  • 1
    @shelladdicted If I play games, I do it on linux, steam or not it works. I would install linux in my car if I could.

    When I was younger, I played WOW on linux.

    My advice is to stop hating yourself.

    @Codebeard i never tried, but i'm sure that i can't run sleeping dogs (a random game from steam) in linux at 60+fps. Am i wrong?
  • 1
    @shelladdicted Not familiar with the game.

    I think @Jop- answered your question.

    I think you could technically get those fps with a great GPU and a compatible game.

    I'm not a gamer, I have like 50 unplayed games on Steam, but they all work on linux (even the ones that only work on mac or win, there is a workaround for everything).

    Linux is build for work and pleasure.
  • 2
    @Codebeard I love how only having 50 games on steam makes you "not a gamer" XD
  • 0
    @Jop- very interesting points. Assuming what you're saying is true, I never knew about that last point.
  • 0
    @jop- A keylogger that sends everything to Microsoft? Don't be so fucking stupid.
  • 0
    @Koolstr I said uplayed, there are many more.

    The things I played and finished were things like Hotline Miami and some MMORPG. I don't play a lot, this was on my forced vacation.

    I used to like RPG's, so I got a lot of them when I saw they were available through steam on Linux.

    @CorruptComputer their business model has evolved appropriately in many ways, but this is still occurring in some ways.

    Take for exam how personally invasive and memory intensive cortana is yet Microsoft refuses to provide you with a way to permanently disable her. You need to go real deep into the registry to put it off, after many other internal modifications.
  • 1
    @drRoss have you used windows at all? They track every bit of what you do, it's obscene. Almost but not really as bad as Facebook app's invasive and uncalled for permission requests.
  • 1
    @Codebeard still, you wouldn't have the 350+ games on steam that a hardcore gamer like me has
  • 0
    @CorruptComputer really? Finally. That's great. I still disable the search indexing too though since I find it to bog down my system and cause my games to lag. I stick with much speedier and more optimized searching to like Everything.
  • 1
    @Koolstr True, man. You are right. 😊

    If you have and play that many, you should start a channal, especially if it's on Linux.

    So much falsity in this thread. /Unsubscribe

    @drRoss 60€ per sold game
  • 1
    @penguin it still pisses me off. Also I didn't wanted to defend Ms, just wanted to rant with you 😕
  • 0
    @J4s0n I'm so flattered
  • 0
    @runfrodorun waiting for @dontbeevil to show up
  • 2
    @CorruptComputer I'm so sorry to ask this, but is that why you have a corrupt computer, because you use Windows?
