@Doh-Vah-Kiin I totally disagree with you. Why should we work for others and expect others to pay a wage to us ...
Just because it's software, it doesn't mean the creator shouldn't be compensated for it. You don't go to a cook and tell them it was so delicious, I hope you give it away for free. Artists also get paid for their efforts while people enjoy their work.
Monitizing is different from having it open-source, you can have both monitization and open-source on the same product ...
There is also a psychological aspect to it that often people trust things they pay for more than the ones they don't pay for. Cannot remember the case study, but I saw an example of the other day. I told my freind he shiuld use LetsEcrypt on his server, and he was asking if they have a paid premium version, so I had to do a bit of convincing that even though it is free, it is a great software ... -
0ne0rZer0528yYeah I plan on developing it a little more but then will probably look to open source it as want to benefit the community and feel others skills will be invaluable Glad to cause such a conversation!

!rant For my uni project I have been developing a anti ransom-ware price of software which had a main purpose of damage limitation/containment in a business environment.
Some course mates were critising it saying yeah when is ransom ware ever really looked at these days, (they developed a chat app), then the news struck about the Nhs hack and now my Lecturer can't get enough of the project and suddenly the marks for real world application seem to be in my favour 🤘
Again not a rant, just a nice feeling after spending so long on my work.
