Still trying to explain a simple login process for the app to a marketing guy. Is it normal not to understand such a trivial thing? Or am I being an arsehole?

Throw in a few fancy business terms, that's the only language they'll understand ;)

Perfectly normal for a marketing guy. Don't lose sleep over it

Oh oh! I can help! I used to be a marketing guy!

Basically, put it in a real world example. So instead of saying "the view sends the password to the present, which tells the model...." Say "the doorman of the secret club takes the password to his boss' right hand man, who takes it to the boss, who takes it to the guy that keeps all the passwords in a secret file, compares it to what it should be and either says 'k this guy is cool' or something else and that message is passed neck and forth"

As for why go with "the further down the chain the password is passed, the harder it is to bribe the guy to let you in despite the wrong password"
