I'm trying to push for estimates are for complexity not time. Check this out https://youtube.com/watch/...

It may not be your fault. Project may need refactoring. Or you maybe don't know project well enough yet.
Anyways, it gets better, when you hair start falling out :) -
@electrineer This is one of those deceptively simple-sounding statements that is actually quite profound, 100% true, and also something that escapes a lot (most?) people. An estimate isn't meant to be exact. I mean, the very definition of the word tells you that! All you can ever do is draw on your knowledge and experience and try to get as close as possible. The more knowledge and experience you have, the better your estimates get, but they still tend to change a bit over time and they're never perfect. Figure out what you legitimately think it'll take, and add some amount of fudge factor (debatable how much) because there's nearly always unexpected complexities. And then be prepared for and okay with adjusting them as you go. That's the way it works and I wish more people got that, at all levels.
Why am I so fucking bad with estimates? I am literally 20 hours over on this one thing because it’s so goddamn annoying to deal with.
