Not an expert, but I think checkout just loads a single commit, you gotta fetch the branch first and/or use git switch

origin/develop
origin is the *remote*… not the local branch.
git checkout -b branch_name remote_branch

kamen69843yWasn't git switch one of those things they added subsequently after realising how confusing git checkout can be? I think there was even a cool blog post about it somewhere, but I can't find it.
