People! I'm attending to a hackathon for the first time (this country sucks)

My advice is to do everything the easy way. And I really mean it. There is no such thing as ugly code on hackathons. I you're not sure about the thing you wrote ask yourself a question: Does it work? If your answer is "yes" then your code is good.

Of course this rule apply only to proof of technology project.

As @beriba said. Hack it, don't over engineer stuff, no matter how ugly the code might look. Also try to make as many connections with experienced devs as possible. Learn and have fun! :)

Would you recommend to brush up various languages I like or focus only on one?
Also, the hackathon is aimed at mobile apps, is it OK to work on hybrid ones? Or should I get into native programming?

@beriba I second this. I've been to a few myself and I've even seen just basic prototypes do well. Sometimes even if the app barely works, if the idea seems original you'll get lots of points for it cuz the sponsor will probably want that actually built for their platform and encourage you to work on it further. Presentation matters a lot too, and try to work with diverse skill sets like designers and product managers. I've gone to hackathons with friends but I wish I went to one just on my own to form teams with more experienced people too.

Also, get the basics of git down for code collaboration. Best of luck! 😊
