I have always been painfully aware that us developers live in an entirely different world than the IT 'muggles'.

However now I usually browse devRant on my way to work (in the train) and listen to music. I have realised this means my time and attention is now almost exclusively devoted to the developers world. It's interesting to see how easy it is to isolate yourself from people who might behave or think differently.

I know a lot of devs who take coding as "just work". And they're good devs, they just have a life outside of it.

@Eariel I actually sometimes code to relax - is that good or bad then?
Most people around me react weird to it though some understand since they see its a job AND a hobby to me

@Chownas, what works for you, it's good. I do sometimes play around with code when my actual work gets boring. But I rather read or play games with my son when my work is challenging. So I'm in the middle 😃

You get ++ for using 'muggles' describing the non-technicals. My friends and I do the same.

It reached a weird place when my friend observed that "books are for muggles."

    That got dark.
