Had a wonderful day at work today trying to connect to SQL server using php 5.1 on Linux

How did you connect sql server? I used freetds in a project with kind of the same, php 5.3, sql server 2005 and ubuntu 12.04

It seems it is not possible.

The database driver is not compatible with versions prior to 5.3 and the machine is our work PBX that runs Elastix 2.5 which cannot run on 5.3.

I told them it cannot be done unless we upgrade Elastix so I simply wasted a day.
