You are never ready, per se. Just get on the tide and try to enjoy that feeling of uneasiness and discomfort. It will leave you with knowledge and skills.
-
We now have levels? How does that work and are there any tutorials on how to build XP farms?
-
@Cyanide I'm right now facing discomfort. Not getting any project to grow. If I tried to switch I'll have level 2 offers only. But looks like it's my only choice.
-
@100110111 hehe. So level 3 is a senior developer. Level 2 is someone with 2-4 years of experience. I already have 3.5 years and I'm still level 1.
-
@true-dev001 Well, I am speaking with an experience and general opinion regarding “change” :)
-
@nitwhiz @100110111 My company has levels, too. I am a Level 2 Engineer.
Level 2 = 2-5 years of experience. -
I know I’m ready when I’m given an opportunity to promote into the role. Congrats! It seems like you’ve earned it.
-
I only had one year professional experience at that time when my boss promoted me to be a senior. I was like, "meh, whatever".
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -
I'm a 20 year senior and I still don't know what the fuck is going on.
They just give me harder problems. -

When you go from "Can you code this?" to "Can you solve this" to "Can you build this?" to "Is this possible?" to "What do we do next?". -
In my experience, you normally starting doing that work before the paper reflecfs it
I am scared to get promoted from a level 1 developer to level 2.
At what time you knew that you are ready?
