Mix a bit of timeline warping and obscure lines in..
Could be an interesting anime.

Perhaps make it like a game to symbolize the delusional world it would depict :p

Something like past you hops time to be a detective for future you, as the murderer.
Each personality shifting day / night?

Also when you've solved the code, you break the code (ie. Insanity) and have a momentarily sanctuary before being sucked back in.
