Just switched from Scala and its syntactic sugar to python and it just feels like :
Scala : Mary likes "football"
Python : WTF is Mary ???

    I knew transition to drugs will be obvious when passing to python

    @Keran Anyone who likes python is obviously on drugs.

    But why? 🤔

    Did you wake up one day and say, "my house is too comfortable. I think I should add spikes and cover the furniture in plastic."

    Python is fine, but the direction is like an career musician going from jazz classical to heavy metal.

    @SortOfTested it happens a lot, you know?

    Moreso a reference to an early aughts interviews with Alexander skolnick from Testament. After some years as a jazz-classical guitarist he was asked if he would consider going back to doing metal. His reply was that would be like going back to high school. The subtext is one is significantly more challenging than the other.

    Anw, Scala is faster even with Java. But the case is when you use pyspark to run Spark Jobs than you could rightly say “WTF IS Mary(Scala) !!”

    @linuxpriest23
    I dunno about your spark jobs, but ours are user configurable via API. I wouldn't have wanted to do all that strict type binding without Scala

    @M1sf3t be sure of your jdk version, Scala only works with a particular, try jdk8

    @M1sf3t Oh okay, have fun then, it's a language full of surprises. If you are familiar with python's jupyter notebook, you could use zeppelin notebook in Scala.
