YourMom16497dDidn't communist Russia paint a lot of homes and places gray?
It is like companies are not even trying to hide it anymore: "gray corporate logo" -
Wasn't there even some bullshit payment card industry requirement to have the corporate logo as a background?
-
Our company went as far as implementing a system policy that would keep people from changing the background and if they ever did, force the background change (system checks about once a month)
Part 1:
I made a mistake opening my mouth when the network admin asked "What can we do to better serve you?" -
@PaperTrail Part 2
Me: "Stop keeping me from changing my desktop background."
R: "Uh..um...why?...why would you ever need to do that?"
Me: "I prefer a clean desktop, only a couple of shortcuts and a black background. The light green and big company logo on all my monitors is an eyesore."
R: "Its the company standard. We can't police hundreds of PCs to make sure they don't have an inappropriate background. What if a visiting supplier or the CEO walks by and sees something?"
Me: "What a waste of your time. If the CEO sees my desktop instead of 2 instances of Visual Studio, SSMS, Outlook, and the 10 other apps I run, I might deserve to be fired"
R: "uh...uh...um...nothing I can do, its the company standard. If you have a problem, you'll have to talk to the CEO." -
@PaperTrail Part 3.
So I created a little app that updates the registry that allows me to change the background and turn off the screensaver.
Have to run it about once a month, but I have my clean black background.

My new wallpaper 😂🙌
I don't know tooo
Researching to making a small 2D game using constructor classes and while building out classes, was working on...
Corporate Windows group police disables customer wallpaper. You get the gray corporate logo so you know you're in hell, and that's it.
But if you replace the corporate "TranscodedWallpaper" file in your profile and call `SystemParametersInfo()` it will update your wallpaper. I made a Powershell script to update my wallpaper.
It stopped working though. Add-Type which gave me access to the win32 function I needed in user32.dll now trigger a FalconSensor virus protection.
...and the wallpaper has been stuck on a photo of an ex-girlfriend who I loathe that I took years ago in Croatia. Why did I even keep this in my wallpaper rotation folder?! Oh god ... I'm in fucking hell.
