retoor19921dOh, for if you don't know yet, if you go to settings -> you can install the app as a PWA and it works very well. Using it for quite a while now. This is a nice alternative until @SoldierOfCode 's native app is ready. @SoldierOfCode please add a block function :P

retoor19921d@D-4got10-01 thank you very much! :) It's a client side saved preference because i don't store devRant user data. So on every machine you have to apply it.

@awesomeest > 'or a cowardly option....'.
Sure... On the other hand, I'm very aware of the weirdos && fucks out there, who have nothing better to do, than pester you w/ bullshit. If a person keeps sending you unwanted content, whatever it may be, then definitely a good option, which most of online-enabled games need && have, too. Especially when a chat is involved. -
@afaIk > 'I blocked the three users so I can talk to myself.'.
Is the conversation on the appropriate level of intelligence? Because that's precisely why I do it. To keep conversations intelligent && entertaining.

@D-4got10-01 true, like most things there is valid uses... but often the valid uses are not primary ones lol

YourMom17881d@D-4got10-01 I drew the line when Javascript Witnesses showed up at my door. They said they were morally against Typescript.
-
retoor199223h@YourMom well, actually, javascript > typescript. When people have typing issues it's their programming and not something that typescript can prevent. Typescript does not even guarantee type safety. It's like the Rust against memory leaks. If it came to me, typescript would've not existed. More guardrails. People who need them should reconsider their purpose.
-
YourMom178822h@retoor lol, people too dumb to program without constraints in the entire next generation of devs unfortunately. They won't get the xp because entry level requires 3 years xp already.
-
retoor199222h@YourMom factually true, but what to do about it. Probably we're worth more than ever in the future because of it. Decent vibe coding needs a lot of experience. Also, if you look at the vibe coding platforms, they're declining as fuck. Everyone found out it's not that easy yet and ran away.

retoor199220h@YourMom for AI xp cheap, try to make some bots using open router trough cheap models like qwen (that supports function calling) and gemma3(12/27) (also, possible of function calling, see the google guide towards that). You can have many hours of fun regarding AI programming with just a dollar or two. At a certain moment you'll find out how awesome it is, but also why almost no one makes money with it :P Reality: we don't want a system to think for us. It's a fantasy. Classic code (also known as rule based (fucking ofcourse)) is what we actually want. A lot of people who entered the programming sphere found out that programming is cool but AI is like... Hmm :P But programming using AI is a complete different topic and needs a lot of practice. But as experienced programmer you're ten steps ahead of everyone that just steps in blank into vibe coding. For that, i only advise claude, I did claude 20 for long, but now using claude 100. Worth it. See rantii, how much time normally..
-
retoor199220h.. such application would've costed. I think i only fixed around 3 bugs or something made by the AI. That's on what level it is now, but that only is for claude. The others (including gemini 3) can't reach to that level.
-
YourMom178818hI dont use an app. But if I did I would want a tabbed mode so you can be logged in with multiple users at once. The trolling would be epic.

D-4got10-01300016h@awesomeest > 'but often the valid uses are not primary ones lol'.
Huh, so true. Like, for example, you wouldn't think a chat in a game targeted at 13+ would be used by some as a sex chat, yet it happens... -
awesomeest112115h@retoor lol naive.
ts has valid uses that arent just for people who dont know how to code. i mean i agree that it's essentially training wheels that never come off for most people... but static typing definitively has some necessity... like the stuff ive been building, when vars are getting transferred between systems and languages, including certain systems that dont work well with others... you can end up with a numerical str suddenly becoming an int
its not from lack of exp in my case, though it is for too many people. i know how the systems i build work, i know when python is gonna do some shady shit and take a numerical string of digits and assume its an int... itd be simpler/more efficient in those specific cases if python had a ts-like form... but instead i needed to keep hardcoding in conversions when those vars get passed and misinterpreted.
it's part of some of the code i offered to show you when i finally could but then.... well you know what happened. -
YourMom178814h@awesomeest "ts has valid uses that arent just for people who dont know how to code."
It was designed for Javascript users. Which is by definition "people who don't know how to code". ;-)
ostream, what do you think?
Python int() and float() are explicit. But I used to program 2.7 before 2018. Can't remember how I did conversions. Only wrote a few scripts in Python 3 since then. Always liked it though. Like legos. It was also fun to write Python modules. Like building your own lego pieces.
Getting better at gdscript right now. -
retoor199214h@YourMom wow gdscript is indent based and uses var? Crazy :) First time i look it up. The indent thingy is one of my favourite things about python actually. Makes so much sense.
-
YourMom178813h@retoor people get mad about whitespace indent. I saw a post that said something like: "whitespace shouldn't have meaning in a programming language". So I said what about between type and variable name? The whitespace in between there has meaning. They were like: "no, that is not what I meant". lol
whitespace matters
