#Gitlab is currently doing a Dry Run before actual migration on August 11.

In the linked blog-post I found this note:

NOTE to users in Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria: GitLab.com may not be accessible after the migration to Google. Google has informed us that there are legal restrictions that are imposed for those countries.

    @Jacobgc not sure about crap but I'm damn sure it is expensive. In my old job we used Azure for two years then I left the company but in those two years no problems at all, faced downtime for 30 minutes three times in the past two years

    @Wack my ground floor level understanding is that on Azure, data is not encrypted at rest, whereas in GCP it is. Those states are embargoed re: crypto so there's nothing that can be done.

    Awesome! So if I move there I won't be (officially) able to access Google or gitlab anymore?

    Hmm let's look for jobs there, then.

    @electrineer Nah haha, just got a contract extension at my current job so I'm all good for now ;)
