As stated multiple IE is good for testing on local machine if you don't have any fancy cloud tools testing for mutiple browsers and platforms.

oh man I remember a tool called Multiple IES that we used for web dev in 2005 or so. Glad that's over.

yeah., its a good idea to make sure the web site you are developing is compatible with as many browsers as possible, including old versions of IE. So people on old hardware who can't upgrade and don't have monet to buy new, can visit it.
A general rule of thumb: Support at least IE8 and forwards. (for those on XP machines)
