Not sure where you live but I feel ya, Houston blows chunks during rush hour traffic, more life rush 4 hours of traffic

In this day and age especially programmers why the fuck do you need to congregate in an office? Skype slack FaceTime conference calls email cloud vpn. 1 hour commute each way saves you 2 hours per day.

@helloworld I agree 100% I really wish more company's would adopt this mentality, sadly they can't get over the biggest obstacle if they can't see you working they assume your not :/

I worked from home for 6 years and was more productive than in the office - less distractions and interruptions. It's not for everyone though.
If a few devs work in the vicinity see if your company will go for a tiny satellite office in a shared office space like Regus or whatever.
Also, see if they will do 3 days home and 2 in office. I started 2 days home and it worked so well we soon went 100% and my work entailed 2-3 conference calls a day globally.
