Man I have to deal everyday with two idiots who are in charge.
The thing I found out is that they code very little, so at some point I give up arguing, and in any case, it’s me who’s gonna write the code. They can even argue in the PR comments, at some point I will close everything and merge anyway.
The real issue is that they take the credit for things they were disagreeing with. -
Difficult questions OP, so psyche yourself up for considering these in their entirety (not attacking you): it sounds like you're dissatisfied because you want your employer to fill some emotional gap or give you a purpose in your wider-than-work life.
If a job is 'just a paycheck' like you say, then why is this a problem for you? Could your work/employer mean a lot more to you than you want to know?
What gap do you want them to fill? Is it fair to ask / expect them to fill it for you?
I think they say the things they say because (consciously or not), gas lighting you keeps you fixated on staying with them. A bit like abusers do with their victims idk.
Also what _exactly_ has made you miserable OP do you have any examples?

My company pays well. I'm remote. But sometimes I'm miserable. I expect too much from work and I need to learn not to.
They talk about how they want employees to be engaged, and they want developers to understand and solve business problems. They just don't mean any of it, and they don't know they don't mean it.
Anything you say about what we're building, why, or the process is wrong. Don't say it like this. Don't say it like that. Don't say it in the retro. Eventually I realized they're gaslighting me and probably don't even realize it.
There is no right way to say anything. There's no right time. The only way they're really happy is if you shut up and work your tickets.
I need to make my peace with that and collect my paycheck.
They're just so stupid. They don't see the disconnect between what they want and what they say they want. They can't be helped.
