They did the same thing in our University. We then complained. A lot. They then upgraded all PCs with high speed SSDs. It takes seconds now.

We had Linux computers at our university's library for quite a while. They then upgraded to Windows 10. Now you get an error message each time you try to save a file on your usb drive. Progress?...
