At ATM

Options
- cash only
- cash and balance
- cash and receipt
- cash and balance and receipt

Choice
- cash only

Questions
- would you like to see your balance

Then
- would you like a receipt

IF I WANTED A FUCKING RECEIPT OR TO FUCKING CHECK MY BALANCE THEN I WOULD HAVE MADE THAT CHOICE WHEN YOU FIRST ASKED ME. YOU FUCKING CUNT.

I EXPLICITLY CHOSE “CASH ONLY” SO JUST FUCKING ASK ME HOW MUCH I WANT TO WITHDRAW AND THEN LET ME GET THE FUCK ON WITH MY BASTARDING DAY!!

The options screen and the questions were probably implemented by two separate teams

    @jAsOn relax, it's banking.

Do banks hire ux/ui designers? Haha
  • 2
@d3vnu11 probably the actual reason. Just makes you realise how stupid the average user/person is.

    ATMs in my country;

    >Enter your pin
    >Choose account.
    >Choose Withdraw
    >Enter Amount
    >>>> NO MONEY IN THE ATM<<<<
    Please visit again.

I like the programmer who programmed the software(for the ATM).
Who understands "Humans" are not rational(not that much), we deal with experiences mostly, we change our minds a little too much than the machines. So I think programmer did a pretty good job there.

But who the hell am I?

What's even worse are the ATMs on which you choose "No balance/no receipt," and after you get your cash and it returns your card, it displays your balance openly on the screen for everybody to see for 5 damn minutes after the transaction is completed

This reminds me of every time I buy something at Best Buy or any other store for that matter. There are like 15 options (donate, sign up for rewards program, ad nauseum) when all I want to do is

    1. insert credit card
    2. Pay
    3. Gtfo

I have not held a cash bill/coin in my hands since... three or four years ago.

That's when the market stall selling vietnamese spring rolls started accepting contactless card payments.

    I don't even have a wallet anymore...

I have actually written code for ATM-s (long time ago, 1998). Did not write above mentioned idiot code. You couldn't choose at all. People are too morons to be able to choose wisely. You got a receipt every time. I recon code was added later to save the forest. I would guess first they added the question. Then people complained "if I choose cash only I don't get a receipt" (yes, morons) so later they added the extra questions.

Fun fact: we had an Easter egg, if you pressed the menu buttons in a specific pattern a naked girl was displayed on the screen.

Fun fact 2: first time we demoed the ATM bank manager entered 400... and got three 100 bills. We didn't got the contract. (Wasn't that fun at the time.)

Haha not related to this story but fuck ATMs and their designs. Last friday I wanted to get some money, I select amount, submit and wait. Then I get my card back and a message 'Operation can not be executed'. Like wtf, generic try catch with most generic error message??? And of couse because of this message I check my account balance it was changed for the amount of money I 'withdraw'... FUCK! Luckily I call ATM info number so yesterday I got my money back. How is this even possible. I know transaction is made first in their bussnis logic but ATM should do some test or some shit to check if he can even give money to user...

@gurumeditation please tell us the pattern so I can try it everywhere
