mpower2697yMaybe they check the frequency of the hash. And your password is actually common, not unsafe.
-
@mpower I can't imagine this password being common cD
Anyways, just bought my first steam games and installing the first one! Linux compatible 😍 -
@linuxxx I don't use passwords anymore, either key auth, or oauth2 or if I have to absolutely, then passphrase but never password. Well explained in this xkcd

@CloZee Orwell: Ignorance is Strength and Orwell: another one I forgot the name of 😅

@irene if that's saved in the database they could just drop the salted column since that's useless then.
And calculating the non-salted hash from salt and hash is not possible.
And rehashing the login password with the salt of every single user is not viable since that would probably take hours. -
@linuxxx Nice! Last time I had a look about 40% of my steam games were compatible with Linux, so that's really promising.

@JellyWX
Also steam has a auto debit licence or whatever that is called where without any bank passwords or anything steam can debit money from your account. So its obvious you need an extra layer of security. -
-vim-31687y@yendenikhil If you use a password manager, you have no problem, I get a lot of entropy, but I mean a lot
-
@-vim- What do you mean, "you get lot of entropy"? I understand password strength and entropy associated but did not understand you.
-
@Condor I'm definitely going to look into it! And understand entropy in detail (software generated or hardware).. thanks!
I'm signing up for steam for playing a specific game.
Entered a freaking difficult/long password: "Choose a less commonly used password"
Yeah right, what in the actual fuck.
