I've bought a new laptop. It comes with windows 11. Looks like I'm installing Linux.

@Lensflare I saw somewhere where you can buy an OSless laptop, for 60€ less mas o menos

Was there an option buy without OS? When I bought my laptop there was an option to not opt for Windows at all. No M$ tax.

@Demolishun I think in my experience it's possible to get laptops without an os, but more expensive/only offered on high end models. Custom or self builds, definitely. Chromebooks are the only thing vaguely close to a laptop with an open source OS preinstalled I see commonly.

@Grumm Ubuntu, for personal tech stuff I just want shit to work and not have to think about it, not spend days fucking with drivers to get audio out. That's why I've stuck with windows so long. These days Linux is pretty good, and I think Valve has a lot to do with that. A decade ago drivers, particularly on laptops, was so much hassle.

Work I'm happy to spend days fucking with stuff, but my spare time I save my brain capacity for things I want to work on. The OS is a tool, not a focus.
