tosensei813132dthe thing is:
doing search right (or at least "not terrible") costs money.
money that project owners don't want to spend because then it's missing in their drug-budget. -
bostonfern2832dHuh? Hacker New's Algolia search page is the first thing that springs to mind when I hear "buggy search bar." I've searched verbatim for comments I know exist, and they're not appearing on HN's Algolia search page, which on top of that is a resource hog.

tosensei813132d@kiki still needs time (and therefore money) to implement.
fun fact: i recently was on a shop that didn't find a product when _literally searching the product name_
Fucking search bars. It seems like no one is interested in making search on their website actually work. It always gives me some random shit all while missing relevant results I can find myself by scrolling through menus. It’ll miss stuff even while searching the exact subtext. Every. Single. Time.
If it’s not an open source library’s docs with Algolia, you can forget about their search bar.
