D--M22687yIts the UoW thing right?
I'll be honest, the fake bash terminal isn't as good, as just having a linux boot - a windows user who has both.
(99% of my time i use linux for work... Windows is just not good at all for what i do.) -
C0D4681467y@kunashe it is seperate to the Ubuntu sub system, although I can’t seem to see anyway of having multi servers saved for quick access so I may hold onto putty for a while.
@D--M with all the issues of grub failing for dual boot, I only use Linux distros inside vms, mostly servers but a couple of DEs aswell.
The subsystem of Ubuntu is basically a minimal Ubuntu server with no root.
Kinda disappointing but it has some use when testing small scripts. -
Wholteza1487yIt doesn't have anything to do with the subsystem. It's a native application by Microsoft.
-
Wholteza1487y@olback I think it's supposed to be just the openSSH client (and soon server) on windows.
So you should be able to use openSSH keys. I havn't tried yet though. I am one of those using subsystem or putty :P . -
C0D4681467y@olback apparently you can, haven't tried yet. Both the server and client can be installed.
I'm only playing with my RaspPI with it at the moment. -
agentQ23457yI don't have this update yet so I'm still waiting. Can it sshuttle? Because that's my only beef with WSL right now.
-
C0D4681467y@Bitwise that’s true but it just becomes habit for what system your working with, I jump between windows and Linux so much I don’t notice them anymore.
-
bahua129057yI'm not seeing an obvious way to install or enable this on my Windows 10 VM, so please indulge me for a question.
Does copy and paste work the same terrible way cmd does? If so, then how in the world would anybody use this over putty? -
C0D4681467y@notcool you could try Cygwin on win7
@bahua what’s so terrible about right clicking to paste? I mean you already had your hand on the mouse to copy something anyway. -
bahua129057y@C0D4
Having to move your hand to the mouse for a simple operation on a command line is absolutely unacceptable. -
C0D4681467y@bahua I’ve done it for 20 years, I had to think how you paste it’s that automatic. You could also attempt to find the insert key if you wanted to keep it keyboard only but that’s usually half a keyboard away and seems worse then a simple right click.
