I’m so over software engineers asking me questions when they’re more than capable of figuring things out themselves. Why do you rely on me so much for answers. Half the time I don’t even know the answer and what you’re really asking is for me to go and do the hard yakka to figure it out! Fuuuuuuuuckkkk

I may be cheap, but I am not easy.

Probably because you have gotten a reputation for knowing or for being good at explaining.

That is traits people often appreciate.

And by asking, they belay their own insecurities, especially if you respond with the same thing they themselves self was thinking of.

I usually have more problems with the ones not asking questions and that make mistakes instead of ;)

Say you don't know and move on?

"What did Google say" is my favorite non aggressive way to get them to look first.

when people do that I think they just want me to do their work for them

no thanks, I will teach you to solve your own problems. I'm not paid by you, and I don't like clingy people being dependent on me -- generally they get entitled and nasty if they find out you have your own things to do.

@jestdotty that is easily solved, just go overboard with explanations, if they only wanted to get you to do the work they will find someone else to pester after a while ;)
