welcome and no worries, it has the same html+css definitions than before. Or even better ones.
-
First rant and you're already fired up? Can't wait to see more of your rants. Welcome on the bevRant tho
-
well Firefox has always been as slow as shit on mac, wonder how the benchmarks stack up with Safari.
-
Oopsie - my bad :D
But anyways - updates... *pfff
Never change a... Nah ok, updates can be pretty useful. -
@Haumdaucha24 there goes your fire 🤦♂️. well, now that you're back to your senses, welcome again.
-
Is anybody else experiencing the following?
So when I load up the page css is loaded way (.5secs) later than the markup... -
@daegontaven just deactivated all my extensions - seems like they slow some processes down as well
-
@notarealDev not by any chance at all ;) my username is a complete coincidence...
-
@helloworld I don't understand how Safari can even be considered to be a browser by people.
-
-
Quantum is so good it has seduced me back to FF after years of chrome/opera. Wicked fast on my machine, I live it to bits
-
@helloworld
I have a gaming PC, an iMac and a Macbook Pro. I used to boot OSX for development, now all three machines run Linux. Not hating on people who like OSX -- just didn't work for me anymore.
And of course Safari is fast. A racing car can be fast through weight reduction by leaving out the seats, not implementing a dashboard, fuck the brakes and steering wheel while you're at it, all you need is a gas pedal to go fast, right?
And that is my (again, personal) issue with most of Apple's products: As a power user you often want to adjust things to your own workflow, and that's not going to happen when everything is made "easy" and hermetically sealed. -
@RTRMS
If I rant about the next update for Chrome/Safari/Vivaldi/WhatEverBrowser, can this rant be considered 'ok' as well? ;) -
@bittersweet it has good developer tools, is one of the most standards compliant browsers, your assumptions piss me off quite frankly.
-
@helloworld
It's not my aim to piss you off, and if you like Safari I have no problem with that either.
However, calling it the "most standards compliant browser" is a bit dubious.
Checking caniuse.com for browser support (only official standards, not experimental features):

To me, what makes a browser good is privacy & security, customizability & extensions, stability & startup time, standards compliance, and maybe then JS benchmarking, roughly in that order.
For me, Firefox comes out on top at the moment in most of those categories. -
@AlexDeLarge Why would I not keep using the best browser for Mac? it does not make me a regressive stupid fucktard. I think Apple scrapped Safari on windows about 6 years ago if that’s what you’re basing your comment on.
-
aaxa24267y@helloworld Good developer tools? Have you ever tried Firebug? Or now, just the Dev tools in Firefox? If you are serious that you think Safari has superior Dev tools, I don't really know what to think...
Most standard compliant browser? This is a huge lie. Mozilla is one of the biggest drive forces for making something a standard. Firefox and Chrome has long been the most standard compliant browsers.
I mean, it's okay to have an opinion, but spitting out nonsense as if they were facts is pretty damn stupid -
@aaxa just read what i said. its one of the most standards compliant and it has good developer tools. i’m not spewing out shit you just choose to interpret it how you like.
-
aaxa24267y@helloworld I don't interpret it how I like. Define "one of the most". Compared to what? Internet Explorer? Definitely.
As I said, good developer tools is of opinion. I just don't agree that Safari has better developer tools than Firefox or Chrome. -
@aaxa internet explorer hasnt been on Mac for over 12 years, im comparing browsers on Mac, which Safari outperforms others in benchmarks. i also said it has good developer tools and did not compare it or say better than. Again read what I say. FFS.
-
aaxa24267y@helloworld I didn't even mention anything about performance? Why is it about that now? We were talking compliance with standards. Oh well, seems like nothing good will come out discussing this with a fanboy
-
RTRMS37897y@bittersweet the dump I took this morning is more standards compliment, safari and Ie<10 are the reason tools like modernizr exist, so that us developers can waste our time having to fix stupid shit.
At least MS decided they no longer want to be the most hated out there and came up with edge, even going as far as renaming it to disconnect from the utter stench that was internet Explorer, apple was more than happy to take over the mantle of biggest most useless steaming pile of monkey shit browser. For fuck sakes, it still barely supports html5 and that's how many fucking years old, we still in 2017 need to use poll fills to give that cunt hater the ability to support html5 forms.
Its not a browser, it's a fucking disgrace to man kind and a Hinderwell to human innovation, it's the Donald Trump of computers. It's the 56k dial up modem trying to make you believe it's still relevant in the age of fibre.
