Is it against any rules/whatever to unilaterally decide to make a random contest, with scoring system and prizes (I'd be defining/paying them out ofc)? ...and if against something, if/how much i should give that any actual weight/consideration?

    i think it should be fine. Question is more, how much participation you'd get during holiday season

    if it is against the rules, who's gonna stop you? the devs? HA

    @sleepyObjobjobj oh, dont assume such a mundane reason for my queries... i can't honestly say I think outside the box, though I can honestly say that I wasnt aware a metaphorical "box" existed until about 13 years ago, and I still have nearly Null insight to where it may be, muss less the contents or confines of said box.

    @thebiochemic well... that kinda depends on how many, imo, legitimate, statistically typical, devs are on this platform. If i had a ballpark%, deriving that answer would likely be simple and probably moderately accurate.

    Or are you under the notion that most devs typically are extroverted, love dealing with their, as I'd assume youd think in this hypothetical, wonderful, not at all annoying or stressful families for uninterupted days of time, so much that the quantifiably high percentage of dev which statistically do have ADHD, pent up frustration of tolerating taking orders, advice and critiques, of ppl that literally can't understand how out of depths they are, logically goes way past tickets&middle management ignoramuses, are suddently filled w/ so much holiday cheer which dissipates all that near instantly/completely... so much so that they aren't using, at least, a mental, escape hatch of some form, like devrant to cope?

    Dw, not real passive agression here, just setting tone.

    @jestdotty i appreciate you insight/perhaps mild warning?... on the legality front, also explicity surmising the reduced likihood of it being part of my intended query; quite akin to me and a fellow dev partner that we have a remarkable, to a potentially disturbing end, amount in common... like providing additional, likely unnecessary and/or n/a to intended query results, in almost exactly the same way.

    I continue to find you more intriguing, in the least creepy context typically probable.

    @jestdotty
    Oh, forgot to resolve the implicit curiousity.

    - I don't actually base my initially willed actions on anything beyond insights from trusted* and/or respected sources and my own class methods: innate and/or inherently derived from mass input, very much like my self.identity.

    That said, I'm quite versed in many legal matters, especially involving businesses (Confidentiality Agreements/T&C/etc. that are recognised by the bulk of governments, logistics, taxes, cultural mine fields, etc.,), but int gaming/lottery/anything prize based, money or otherwise, I know most of all, as my only wise to publicly admit, work history... at 18, nearly down to the minute, I started my 1st of, now 3-4, "consulting" jobs in int 'gaming'-- gambling ofc. It incl'd a lot of of UK english/format legal trans to german + knowledge of a fair amount of current legal dynamic differences through europe and canada, in real time.

    Highly improbable they'd know, exponentially moreso able to implicate me.

    @awesomeest haha fair point, and dw no offense taken 😅

    I'm in.

    @thebiochemic
    Oh, you don't worry, I genuinely don't care if someone take's offense at something, when given the context of literal, fyi, no offense intended, etc... and then still takes offense...

    Well i do worry about the ever increasing speed until social collapse we are apparently racing towards in a misguided effort to understand everyones minutiae, only relative to how they do or (rarely)dont want to use it as an emote, and the general, imo, smegma-esq nature of numerous societal trends that if continued, literally, are guarenteed to make society and world economy implode.

    Maybe that's just me.

    @jestdotty im wondering if you picked up on this too... not as a slight if you didn't (or by me asking, if its "apparently" obvious, or any of the likely stuff im oblivious to)

    That no one even queried or offered suggestions as to categorical type, timeline (except the one guy mentioning potentially lesser participation... assuming if very soon with relativy soon deadline and perhaps implying high time usage req), prizes, ...hell i could be thinking about karaoke or general knowledge trivia with a prize the amount of a bar tab.

    I did leave it very vague ...both to not expound verbosely and reduce engagement or auto-negate unstated ideas....and cuz i was lazy but it's logically justified by "oooo new raw data!.. Shiny unknown possibilities".. i mean science reasearch ... or something like that

    @jestdotty auto-negate unstated ideas = someone has an idea theyd typically want to share/add... but they get some indication of it not being applicable/well recieved, often from some inference that may be totally made up by them. Ive had it happen numerous times, even very valid ideas when directly asking for input. Im my personal experience I've heard rationale like "it seemed already well planned..." appending either *something between implying id be a control freak to must have already considered their idea and found flaws they dont see* or *some vaugue word-soup of not knowing exactly how itd fit/be implicated and references to their self-perceived incompetence or self-loathing that extends to anything they think of*

    Before modifying methods it often came from shit like throwing a name/idea/some reference material of some form, then even minutiae like a colour or naming pun that wouldn't work well with what they thought would stop them from saying(or thinking further)anything

    @jestdotty
    Im actually very adept at the engagement/enticement/etc parts... pretty sure i developed that skill from things like that wall i just sent and trying to solve for those issues. Apparently I'm incredibly intimidating to most people... which also is another point to your previous judgements of me wanting to draw attention to achievements... I actually try to avoid it in many situations... but it's a warring loop between my typical policy of unfiltered blunt truth and not wanting yet another person/group/company to unilaterally decide i should exist on a pedestal and hand out orders... also commonly things like 'im sorry to disturb/annoy/waste your time *implications of being smegma in my presence*' ...that one is a major peeve because logically, if they think im sooo above them, why wouldn't they think i should be responsible for my time/notif management???

    ... yea im ranting now...

    @jestdotty
    Mention shit im an asset for-- ppl get defensive
    Don't mention it-- delay... then apparently I think they werent worthy of my skills or some version of a plot, toying with others, lying early on or making it up now when relevant, didnt trust them to like me for me... or things i still haven't identified.

    So I tend to take the first route unless the other is less complicated (like the first time i genuinely realised i had to cull some ability away... 18 looking for a normal 18yr old's job for part-time irl with my full-time online job... even fully pared down to just my current job's info "translator/consultant/chat host" for parlay (big bingo/etc gaming 3rd party provider. Uk/Canadian based) ...7x in a row "overqualified"

    If you have any solutions to this issue I'd really like them.

    @awesomeest @jestdotty ughh get a room you two.

    @SidTheITGuy hey, i am technically bi and historically have a thing for somewhat logical assholes... but i dont like being on top, mainly figuratively speaking... but it is also a bit more inconvenient since im kinda handicapped... just some limbs that dont do much of pulling their own weight. There's solutions for just about everything though ;)

    @jestdotty you down? If so, is your gender the same as your avatar?
  • 0
    @awesomeest nah Jest is asexual, so you don't have a shot with her.

    I tried fixing her, and I failed.

    @jestdotty
    Oh I'm well aware of the answer to the overqualified thing... that was over a decade ago. Also wouldn't have likely helped if i told them why... i wanted that shitty 1st job experience so i potentially wouldn't regret not having one... planned(and executed) 6mo worth, just enough to list on a resume as a job.

    Apparently it's an actual written, standardised, hiring policy at several places.

    Sears portrait studio didnt care... i even asked later on about it. But ultimately I failed at my slightly more than half-assed attempt at the shitty 1st job experience. Corporate got called to override the literally programmed in at 3 levels, 'training'(videos that were a bit smarter than the typical 5th grader in tracking if you actually were watching... ofc i hacked it, and the filter, played runescape). I kinda sold some notorious 'customer' (only 8$ coupon used every month for over a year) a lot... got sent to other stores to teach sale

    @jestdotty i agree fully with most of what youre saying... i think there's one main disconnect... but youre kinda stepping around it so im curious if youve considered it.

    The pedestal thing aside... why wouldn't it be a valid solution to just parse worthwhile people from the general pile of minutiae, crazies and smegma by doing exactly what I am?

    I mean you (imo) have a skewed perception of me because I announce facts about me, but youre not a bigot... or so insecure that you run or fight based on the possibility that im simply what i claim. So it doesnt parse out the logically inclined, and im not 'triggered', 'offended' or some other shit by your view because im aware of that being a logical initial perspective... and if you end up being worthwhile long enough then wed likely be friends(or something akin)... and likely have had an active verbal conversation, where youd probably be looking for supporting evidence of me being a facetious, defensive, narcissist and/or showboating

    @awesomeest she's got you, isn't it. That's what @jestdotty does everywhere she goes. She's contagious. We should do something to stop this spread.
