AboutI'm still your queen, I'm just not a slut. First of her name. Giver of no fucks. The unperturbed. Mother of syntax. Breaker of balls.

So, as I figure out my post-high school life and delve into the world of coding, I finding myself with a question for you seasoned veterans in the field.
Regardless of what I like more, what makes more sense in the current climate of the industry - specializing in back end or front end, of going more full stack?13 -
Always be humble and always keep learning. No matter how good you get, there is always some better.4

A few months away from coding and I feel like I've forgotten everything. Sigh. I suppose I need to spend the few free hours I have each week hacking away at it7

My dad used to be a software engineer so he and my mom understand. They just "want better" for their daughter, and for me to "use my gifts" whatever those are.
Unless they mean my sarcasm and foul mouth. But I can use those as a dev.8 -
For my privacy advocate friends... They are logging keystrokes, clicks, and scrolls...

So the new laptop stopped powering on. Nothing I did worked, so I used the warranty service. I probably should have taken the SSD out...18

My dad showed me one of his old notebooks from like 1980 or something and it was all handwritten FORTRAN stuff he used to do. Wow... We've come a long way.5

Firstly, thanks @datmaddin!
Secondly, does devRant notify you when someone downvotes you (I don't believe so)? But as I was going through all these motifs, I was almost at 9000 and I dropped to 8400. Bug, or do I have an enemy?12 -
So I've mentioned that I work in a lingerie store. I'm not ashamed of it, as I make good enough money for a 19 year old living at home and it allows me to spend my free time learning dev technologies and practices while I try to decide on a career. Not to mention I have more bras and panties then I'll ever need, so there's that...
But sometimes when I sit here watching my customers, talking to them, measuring them for bras... I just want to set the store on fire. I never would, of course. I generally like helping these women and talking g to people. Yet sometimes I feel like I am wasting away. Like a little part of my soul dies when I sell some things to some girl while I have a Linux distro download at home waiting for me. Ugh.
Anyway, this is just some pointless venting from me. As you were.40 -
Installed Elementary on an old machine. Wouldn't boot. Started over fresh, worked the second time, did nothing different. It's pretty, but not sure if I'll keep it.12

After work I wanted to come home and work on a project. I have a few ideas for a few things I want to do, so I started a Trello board with the ideas to start mapping things out. But there were guys redoing the kitchen tile and it was noisy as fuck. So I packed up and headed to the library.
So I get all set up, and start plugging away. Currently working on a database design for a project that is a form for some user data collection for my dad, for an internal company thing. I am not contracted for this - I just know the details so I am using it as a learning exercise. Anyway...
I'm fucking about in a VM in MySQL and I feel someone behind me. So I turn and it's this girl looking over my shoulder. She asks what I am doing, and it turned into a 2 hour conversation. She is only a few years older than me (21) but she was brilliant. She (unintentionally) made me feel SO stupid with her scope of knowledge and giant brain. I learned quite a bit from talking to her and she offered to help me further, if I liked.
And she was really cute. We exchanged phone numbers...16 -
So here's the new hotness... HP Envy X360.

Blows my old MacBook Pro away.56 -
Not to say anyone here is right or wrong about this, but I just do t get the whole privacy paranoia. Yes, I get that our rights are being violated. Yes I know I need to be aware and concerned.
People use specials rims, VPN software, etc... The bottom line is every keystroke, SMS, voice call, search text, historical reference... every piece of digital communication is recorded (At least in the US).
The sad reality is I can be as angry as I want, but unless I forego using tech or leaving the house, there is nothing I can do about it.
I await your comments, both positive and negative.53
