I hate applying for jobs. It makes me so depressed. Most of the postings online are just 1000s of recruiters. Most of the jobs im not qualified for. It just stresses me out. I don't want to work for a bad company again. I really want this next one to be the one :(6

I think I get a programmer high.
Like when I program, I get really into it, time is flying, I'm having fun problem solving, I am super focused, my brain is thinking super fast, and I have a hard time stopping.
Maybe similar to a runners high?9 -
Anyone else ever not feel like explaining something technical to someone in a different non-technical department or position, so you use a lot of techy terms and make it sound really confusing so you can move on with your life?

I find IT to be an amazing field. There are so many parts to it that take tremendous dedication to fully understand, yet, each part works together.
Teams of people dedicated their entire life to software development, which would be impossible if teams of people did not dedicated their entire life to the development of operating systems. That would be impossible if teams of people did not dedicated their entire life to integrating hardware and software. That again would be impossible if teams of people did not dedicated their entire life to electrical engineering.
I know I missed tons of subfields that link everything together, but just the massive amount of dedication and teamwork to make something as simple as a console application work properly is amazing. I wish I could understand it all and I hope everything will always be as easily accessible my entire life as it is now.2 -

One of our clients discovered a bug on our site about an hour ago. I wrote up a fix, and after very little testing, pushed it into production. I then immediately left to go home.
You can say I like to live my life dangerously.3 -

My work does this contest where they email everyone a puzzle where you have to guess a safety slogan. They give you maybe 1-2 letters in each word and there are about 5 or 6 words. So I found a list of every word in the English language online, I imported it into a database and I ran a few queries to return all possible words for each, depending on the length of the word, and where the letter hints are placed. I haven't missed one puzzle so far. :D
p.s. I told my girlfriend and she said, "I am dating a nerd".6 -
Sometimes when I am on reddit or fb, I will double tap a post to try to like it. It never works :(3

I am building my first android app and the hardest part is learning that ctrl + y doesn't redo an undo, but instead it deletes the current line2

What I can figure out:
You give me a large application with multiple projects/classes/files/functions that is tens of thousands of lines long, I can debug it. I can picture the multi-dimensional data structures, objects that contain lists of other objects, all in my I head.
What I can't figure out:
Should I or should I not look at the person sitting at their desk when I walk back to my desk from the bathroom.4 -
I wish it was more acceptable to leave a job every 2 or 3 years. I like seeing how different developers work and learning from more than just the same 5 people everyday.3

Today my boss told me I work too hard. I wanted to tell her, "No I don't, your other employees just aren't that good."1

I was hired as a programmer, but I feel like the correct term is reprogrammer, because no one can code for shit at my job...1

Does anyone else code really slow? I spent an entire day Friday working on one DAO (and one small help desk ticket). Nothing complicated, and I knew what I was doing the entire time. At the end of the day, I just felt like I could have written it faster, or got more done. And I was really focused on it the entire day.3

Your Telerik Kendo UI has a bug? I can fix it. It shouldn't be difficult because there is just so much support and documentation.

I wanna work for a company that develops cool algorithms and implements them. Where the devs analyze complex issues and have to do complex problem solving. Where everyday is a challenge. Not a place where simple repetitive UI bugs are the issue at hand. Not a place where the only tasks and todos are trivial and uninteresting. Not a place where most of my coworkers are idiots.2

I watched a criminal minds episode today where the first scene was someone calling a programmer weird, then two seconds later a sniper shoots the programmer in the head. Then he was never brought up again!5

I was at the doctor today for a bad back.
Nurse: how much weight can you lift before your back hurts?
Me: the heaviest thing I have lifted in the past year is my keyboard
Nurse: uhh, what?
Me: I mean 60-70 lbs.1 -
*thinking to myself*
Would it be faster to try to guess/remember the correct syntax and type out this line of code, or search for it on Google, then copy and paste it?1 -
PM: I want you to develop something I possible in a short time. Can you do that?
Dev: Never stopped me before...2
