    I'd hazard to say most developers don't know what that would do. As the first comment said, or Unix users. Most of the developers in my office would not know what that meant.

    @Knossos Ever tried to explain why they should reflect on a more appropriate value than 777? I feel lucky to have colleagues who are eager to learn :)

    Never do chmod 777, unless you know what you're doing. Plus the output of ls -l looks bad after this.
