I think that's a solved problem, look at devRant, going back nicely returns the context to where you clicked/tapped the rant.

So It's probably just CNN devs that are unable to implement that for whatever reason. Either incompetence or just not enough interest from management :( which is often the actual issue

Scrolled to the 10th story. Clicked it. Went back. Ended up on the front page exactly where I left off.
