My plan is to buy 2017 macbook air 13" with 8gb of ram and 128gb ssd. Screen resolution in macbook air is not problem for me.
-
8gb of ram is maybe a bit low end, but you’ll be fine. Kinda depends on the kind of apps you’ll be building.
-
I normay don’t have xcode open by the way, only intellij and simulator (though i prefer a device).
-
why dont you just buy a laptop
a normal laptop
i mean what the fuck is the point of an osx thing if you aint gonna develop for native? -
Good enough for react native I think. You won't need xcode most of the time.
But you'll die if you ever need to open android studio. -
olback109817yMBA 2017 Specs:
5th Intel core i5 (dual-core) (i7?)
8gb ram (16gb?)
1600x900 Display
128gb ssd
It's 2017, these are 2014 specs. -
Haven't built in react native yet but successfully built ionic apps on a MBA, 2012. I had sublime, xcode chrome and a lot of other stuff open. MBs are one of the best investments a Dev can make. I went for MBA instead of a MBP because of the weight.
Time for upgrade this time but it is still going strong for my needs.

Any react native or godot dev here? I just want to ask a question, is macbook air good enough for react native and godot development?
Good enough for react native is it can open xcode, vscode, chrome, and ios simulator at same time without any problems. And for godot, I don't know I never use godot before 😁 but I really want to make a game using godot.
