My mom is trying to convince me that being good at Latin is more important than knowing how to program / spending time learning it.

    @jdunla I am not planning on travelling back in time but I think the school system here got stuck around 100+ years ago and has hardly changed since then

    @jdunla I hope that they improve in the cs education. I will be finished with high school 2 years from now to go to university and only this year we started 'learning' java.

    Last week we learned how to write methods, while on the other hand I have had latin classes since 6th fucking grade (I am in 10th grade now)

    @jdunla this is exactly my strategy right now. I focus on the subjects / things I like and for the other ones I just do enough to get by

    @enen yeah right, to make sure only people who know latin can understand the program. Sorry but I am not gonna do that to the open source community / future coworkers

    @Jilano we don't learn how to speak latin. The only thing we do is translating latin texts. For the past 4 fucking years this is the only fucking thing we have been fucking doing and in all those fucking years I haven't learned what the fucking latin word for 'fucking' fucking is

    @enen I know ;)

    @Jilano I actually understood that reading it the first time oO

    Well it depends what you want to do.. I know someone who knows Latin, they work as an English teacher and they love their job and I imagine are very good at it since they speak many other languages too. I am sure there are other good careers for linguists too.

    If you want to be a software developer you need to learn a programming language and you should learn another and another.

    @WebRant You can make a living of programming because it's alive. Only undertakers can make a living of Latin ;)

    Fottutum

    Choosing Latin was the biggest fucking thing I have ever done, if I could turn the time back and change it I would do it immediately.

    @WebRant ya I notice that it took you less time to learn programming than learning latin? or am I missing something else :3

    If course it is. Why else would you see lorem ipsum written all over the place if not to be read?
