Deim4367yTo be fair, intellij is not bad, even with projects on gradle. Beefy, but not bad. Android Studio though...

gvnix19337y@TYML I have accumulated a bunch of android devices now. So I can test on various configurations
I7 quad in Mac can finally handle it though. -
Things that never go out of fashion:
* People that complain that <insert IDE name here> is very slow.
* Java
* Potatoes -
Unrelated:
AMD powered 5 year old laptop isn't a good standard for speed.
MacBooks are very bad at fan noise at even average loads, so nothing new here. -
Wcked1417y@AndSoWeCode mate, I have an HP Spectre, 16 GB ram intel I7 and this happens to me as well
*bragging about my laptop feels good 😂* -
cwizard5877yI have a HP with a dual core i5@3.20ghz hyperthreaded and 16gb of ram and Android studio with a vm runs fine for me. The vm runs smooth as well. Did some stuff to make the VM run smoother though can remember what exactly.

I have a Core i7-6820HQ and 32GB RAM on my 14", and no Android Studio, and I'm happy :)
Yeah, but a 2012 AMD APU is ... well... weak. I really found it hard to decide whether a 2017 APU would be sufficient for handling something as small as FreeNAS. And here we're talking about a mature IDE, with compiling, optimization of packages, on Android, which probably runs in a horribly slow emulator.

Why the fuck is android studio such an unoptimized POS?
It sucks up resources like a sponge.
And Gradle just pushes the cores to the max.
Simulator is a memory hogging Pos too.
I had to buy a new laptop just to run it faster.
I had
AMD A8 4500M
8gb ram, running on Ubuntu.
Now I have macbook-pro 15 in. And it still can ramp us the fans.
Ffs get your shit together jetbrains.
