So I'm reading up on the HomeAssistant documentation to prepare for submitting to their repo. I was really excited to find such a nice repo to contribute to, but i suddenly had to reconsider when i found this:

    I use tabs, but IDE converts it to spaces. Be flexible, don't be stubborn.

    I'm actually kinda confused with this space vs tab thing. Is it 4 actual spaces vs tab character (\t)? Doesn't an ide convert a tab press to spaces?

    Or is it saying you don't use tab on your keyboard and only press space to indent?

    What is the problem of having tabs instead of spaces? I don't get this whole debate at all. What fucking difference does it make to use one or the other? Just be consistent across the pronect and everything is find.
