For my major papers/assignments, I hit Crt + S several times. And I also duplicate the file. I ain't about to have some nightmare from hell shit hit me.

My habit of ctrl+s often makes me crazy when working with confluence.. Some bastard implemented that ctrl+s *closes* the document after saving..

I use LaTeX for major papers/assignments. It gives you that academic style you see in other papers. Use some service like sharelatex and you won't be thinking of backups, ctrl+s, etc.

Google drive for muggle files.
Git for code.

This reminds me of making changes in a file inside build folder instead or src and was wondering why my changes were not deployed even after multiple saves. Wasted like 2-3 hours.

All files should be stored in a personal git repository and problem done.

Just push or commit.

I wonder if there already is a git integration for office products.
Even if there isnt, i think its a must for a computer science student in 2017
