I am looking for something stable

@sain2424 Most people who want stability use Debian, though it is not always the most up-to-date distro. I currently use it too (version 9 - stretch) and I love it.

I don't think vim is a must but other than that I agree with @runfrodorun

Also, safe bet would probablly be Ubuntu

@Jop- only problems I've had with that are some wifi drivers, but I simply install using an ethernet cable and install the drivers later.

    You can go for Manjaro.

@sain2424 why not Ubuntu or Mint?

Arch is fun and all but not as reliable as Debian or openSUSE. I'd go with Debian since that's what I already know and it's easy to find help with issues.

@Devman coz I have already used Ubuntu and Mint and wanna try something new.

@olback Heard Arch is kinda unstable. So wont install it.

take a look into KDE neon, I like its ideas. although it's not the stablest

@sain2424 arch isn't unstable, I've been running it from a 2 year install. as long as you're not running sudo on everything, keeping the system upgraded, and checking the archlinux main page for issues. arch can be the most stable system you ever used just because there's no end of life or outdated packages

@PerfectAsshole ok gonna give it a try later

@sain2424 I suggest starting from the real arch and not the ones with a pre-installed wm. in my experience vanilla arch is more stable than its sub-distros but require a little more initial setup which isn't bad for a one time thing. well one time until your hd or ssd burns out

anything with a lightweight gui would be best, because with all the chrome instances running in web-based-software I try to spare my resources :-)

I see more and more developers using Mac. And I have no fucking idea why.
