Went to a job interview with a senior developer and HR woman
We talked about me, previous expriences, and the company, in general. No tech questions asked, 2 days later got accepted.

Feels really weird... Does that happen often to you guys?

p. s. It's a normal company with a pretty good and known product in my country.

Yeah my last one was a bit like that. I was prepared to whiteboard and everything. Instead they had me talk to work I had done and the processes involved.

How does hire & fire work in Lithuania? Is there "trial time" of some months or can they just fire everyone every second?

@CWins yeah, we do have a 3 month trial period, during which you can be fired without notice anytime. Then if you get past it, there are various rules for firing (if it's not your fault), you can be fired with 2 weeks notice and get paid 2 weeks worth of work (if you've workes less than a year, otherwise the leave pay increases) or you can be fired immediately with 6 months worth of salary as leave pay :D

Ah, okay! So is it common to just try people and drop them if they happened to have lied about their skills?

@CWins hmm... i guess it would make sense, but haven't heard about such cases in my career. Probably due to shortage of developers.

@CWins our employers in Canada are the same. It's not easy for a company to terminate an employee. Even though there is a probationary period. They usually only do so with cause to avoid any liability.

Some companies are more after a culture fit. And they trust you not to have lied on your resume.
