Protecting credentials from eavesdropping using HTTP Basic Authorization header:
Changing authentication mechanism in SharePoint from windows identity to ADFS identity is stupidly complicated, especially for existing large farms with custom code.
On the plus side - just convinced the director this is stupid - saved myself, himself, and 1000 users a ton of misery.
