I don't like any product by Micorstuff. Their security exploits are infamous(especially domain related like PTT, PTH).
Their software is often mediocre and fit for the masses and mindless corporate end users, not for professional tech geeks like me.
Since Windows 10 they heavily spy on their users.
They completely take over every field they get to and leave no chance for alternatives. Most normies where I live don't really know that any other OS exists but Windows.
I don't like C#. I prefer Java.
I don't like Powershell, I prefer bash scripting and Python.
I hate the bugs, BSOD and overall crap and viruses that flood every product by Micorosft. Using GNU/Linux feels much better. -
i havent tried c# on any os because java gets the same job done a lot faster and easier
-
ElBibao1027yIt seems that spying on your customers is just normal these days... Microsoft isn't first in line if you talk about spying the customers.. How about Google?!?
And yes you can catch a virus for your windows PC nearly everywhere, and at least every 4 months there is a security issue.
But have you ever asked why it is like it is?
It is not because Microsoft is doing a really bad job it is just because they have done a great job in the past.
With nearly 80% of computers running windows there is much interest in programming a virus or some Trojans I think that's why.
Microsoft, especially windows has to deal with more attacks and scripting kiddies trying to find an exploit than other OS have to.
And Java won't totally work for everything C# does, there is a reason both still existing.
And if you get in touch with windows at least a little you will see that you can disable critical services wich can be used by wannacry and others. -
@clovisIrex Fully agree. I personally fucking hate windows because it's closed source (how the fuck do I check it for back doors then?), doesn't allow the user to rewrite it to suit needs? AND WHY THE FUCK DOES IT SPY ON ITS FUCKING USERS, THAT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE TO OKAY.
Yeah I hate that system. -
Btw, you can in fact install Visual Studio on Linux. I just wouldn't know why you would want to use that horrible thing. Or why you would use C#, you know ;)

CWins48117y@ElBibao
Don't forget, "i hate xyz and it's the worst in the history of mankind" is the internet way of saying "i prefer something else".
Hate is a very strong word. I can't even imagine how it feels to hate a piece of software. I would hate the person who kills my child. If a tesla's AI decides to crash into my kid, maybe that may eventually qualify for hate, but other than that, don't think so. -
ElBibao1027y@CWins yes you're totally right....
@Artemix if you have plan how we can destroy this spying shit I'm totally with you here but so far as it is gone today.. it seems nearly impossible to avoid it -
Geoxion9037yI'm with you on this. If Windows was truly that bad like DevRant makes it seem, then why is it still so big? All Linux distros combined don't have the same userbase as Windows does. So clearly Windows at least does *something* better than Linux does.
And I don't think that will change any time soon.
They've had 30+ years to get bigger than Windows and it didn't happen so far.
So I think that if anything will take over Windows, it ought to be something completely new. Maybe a Quantum OS?
Of course I can't ignore that phones and the web are dominated by Linux. So perhaps the Unix kernel makes for great applications but bad UX? -
@Geoxion I guess bad ux is because there's noone interested enough in investing money for Linux applications aimed at non-technical users. Because making a great ux for newbies or uninterested users out of hobby is a bit difficult, and may only happen to individual apps. Technical users on the other hand have enough comfort and interest to handle Linux systems, even without ideal noob-friendly UI.
-
You may use Jetbrains Rider. It's a new .NET IDE. As long as you need not use the ui designer in Visual Studio, Linux can satisfy almost all your needs.

I have to say that I'm a little pissed by all this windows bashing... Can't understand all that Linux is the only OS you should use...
Have you ever tried to Programm C# without windows?!? It's really quirky and shitty if you can't use Visual Studio.
Have you ever tried to do something according to sound and producing... So you probably known something about Logic and for this case MacOS seems to be best.
I think Windows improved a lot over the time and they have done some nice things with the "new" powershell.
Don't get me wrong Linux is quite nice and you can get distros for nearly every use case but if you want your software to run by most of the people with a computer you have to develop for windows...
