Yesterday all the staff were give a piece of paper with a question.

Question:
What will make you happy at work?

and our answer should be confidential.

My answer was: A Girlfriend

I' ll be going to the HR Office about this. I was just being honest.

If they didn't want painful honesty they shouldn't have asked a guy who spends his days working with computing machines. :/

American style HR makes me cringe so hard.

Sexual intimidation is awful, and companies where sexist (or racist jokes) are the norm are horrible to work for...

But my coworkers are pretty honest and open about their lives, and sometimes discussions are about relations, love and sex — and sometimes there's some flirting going on.

HR should only be involved if someone crosses lines / doesn't respond to signals.

I don't trust HR people especially after undergoing my MBA and taking a course in HR Management, those people are just after "Best fucking talent" and are only after paying as little as possible and are willing to argue for hours for not giving a fucking 50$ additional on the to be signed contract, and when submitting your resignation those shitters say: You betrayed us!

Don't know about your country but this is the case in mine, they just "We are forming that amazing team with fun work environment ..etc."
and all they care about is get a "talent" to fucking do the job and if they can make it for free they will not hesitate a single bit!

oh and OP usually when they handout such questioners be careful what you say, they are either building a profile for their employees or analyzing employees behavior so that if there are plans for replacement/recruiting they know who to remove and who to add, it is never about who to promote. if it is not in the fucking contract they will not come and tell you: You have been a good boy throughout the year, here have a promotion ...

    Shouldn't it be confidential?
If you get called just reply to any question with this : shouldn't this be confidential?
Only time I had such problem (with a confidencial test where I was really honest... And said a lot of true bad stuff) I only replied, shouldn't this be confidential? If I'm asked one more question about the questionary I'll make a formal complaint...
And told my coworkers who got out crying to make a formal complaint to the authorities...
Thank God I was a temp, company got closed for 3 months while a investigation was going on...
You see, in counties where there are services to protect workers a simple complain can get lots of work... Because the inspectors will look for other stuff, specifically security related...
So 3 months and lots of money to make things right (like up to date extinguishers, new secure equipment, and extra reviews till all is well )
