@jmclemo6 The defense of "I was doing what I was told" did not hold up in court; some companies/clients do not allow pushback from the developers and will fire you for not following orders. Depending on the person's situation they will choose employment over legal, and "not knowing the law" is not an excuse for breaking the law.

@bkwilliams at least the guy pleaded guilty. He knew he was doing wrong and owned up to it.
I'm baffled by the people surprised by this conviction. Doing something illegal because someone told you to do it, doesn't make it less illegal.
"The person who pays me told me to do it" doesn't work for hit men, nor will it for developers
