The fact that he is smart enough to ask you for this specific thing and not 'how do I hack facebook' suggests that he is intelligent enough to think through the consequences. I think you should hear him out.

Plus he willingly admitted his intent. I don't think that was out of stupidity.

    I heard him out

Interesting. You could press for details about what he's doing or why, but honestly it's up to you.

@chadd17 he said he couldn't pay, so not worth it.

If he is a your friend, help he

He seems smart enough, reference a source about drive by malware and perhaps something about download attribute on an anchor tag.

I expected little bit different reaction by devRant community. Helping revenging by installing malware, potentially spyware shouldn't make anyone happy. Where's your morals?

By the way. Social engineering is the way to go.

Can someone share some links? I'm in belief that it's only possible by finding big bug in browsers and I just don't believe regular devs would know about such bug.

@sSam What links? Here's Chromium source code: https://chromium.googlesource.com you are free take a look at it if you find any vulnerabilities. I suggest starting from blink.

Once I coded autorun viruses and installed them in my school lab PC's. Feels evil

I once created a hook for Facebook for a friend of mine - no viruses, no keyloggers, just a simple way to get his user name and password. She suspected her boyfriend was cheating on her. Actually, there were some pretty strong indications he was, so I decided to help her out. It turns out she was being cheated on. Then she went on a rampage and posted some of his conversations on his wall to shame him, which I do not approve of, no matter how bad of a boyfriend he was. Moral of the story is - normal people can't handle power when they are under strong emotion, but Devs can. Don't give power to people who can't handle it.
