Do you know that feeling when you ask for help in a chat or board and some guy posts a link to the first google result by just googling what you asked?

I mean does that guy think that I can’t use google?

I wouldn’t ask for help if the answer could be found in google in a few seconds.

On the other hand you can’t be mad because he only wanted to help you.

No but I know the feeling when the first Google result is a thread where the response advices the OP to use Google.

You have the right to be mad cuz I see them being condescending towards you. You never forward Google results to a dev.

    Good rant though.

No, but i sometimes am the one forwarding a google result after i checked it to actually answer the question.

You are assumed to be human. And humans do forget to search, search for the wrong thing or miss a relevant result. Forwarding something found by just googling often is just the right and economic thing to do (but i normally search on StackOverflow first).

The google-forwarding is only the first interaction btw. You can always specify your case further and might even get an actual problem-specific response generated by a real biological neural network just for you.

@Oktokolo "... after i checked it to actually answer the question" is the key part here.

plenty of people doing this don't bother to check. Also, they sometimes send the first google link without checking the content, although initial question clearly stated I already tried this approach and it didn't work

Make a note of it. Save it for when they ask you for help. Direct them to the Hello Kitty Foundation for Assholes. Make sure to give them the link. Intelligent people will ask for help. Idiots will do what he did ergo he's an idiot. But get your sweet revenge.

This would only be annoying if you hadn't indicated in your original question that you'd already tried the solution from that first Google result. It's always funny when someone gets mad at me for suggesting something they've already tried, when I had no way of knowing they'd already tried it...
