I'll be honest. I was expecting the nobs to only turn towards the wall

@Dacexi old apartments in Sweden have it as well. I would say all countries had it and some still have it because the one knob is relatively a new invention

@Dacexi It was so before, and as others say still is in older house or retro bathrooms.

But it is not practical, is was very much more difficult to adjust temp especially since there was no thermostat like there is in more luxurious taps now a days.
