Show your parents some dev job ads with listed salaries for the tech stack you're currently using.

Then tell them: "I have an obsessively curious mind which needs to be fed intricately complex patterns. I have an insatiable hunger for novelty and intense experiences. So I could make money writing code on my laptop, or spend money using drugs at orgy parties"

Then do both, of course.

I'm lucky that my parents see coding as the future and respect what I'm doing all day
