Well, basically

• Coworkers that know their shit
• A boss that once coded/still codes
• A management that consists of people that coded/code
• A pay that's good enough for me to afford more than just a place to live, food and water.

Also everyone, no, I didn't mean they're shit. I literally mean they should know what they're doing.

Well even tho if they knew they're shit, that could help too

Be careful with wish 2 and 3.
We have that situation, at least kind of, and it is a mess sometimes.
Our boss/manager was a developer once, although he was already promoted to a manager/team leader only position in his last company.
He still wants to do stuff like it was done 10 years ago, because he has "already done this that way and it worked great". But usually with techniques which are outdated or not even available anymore (read: plugins).
Sometimes he writes small bash programs to collect data or gives us code snippets to "help us", although his solution is crappy and, you can guess, outdated or based on old, now invalid documentation.

Also, I get more and more the impression that usually a good programmer is not promoted to team leading or management, but that bad programmers who you can't really fire are promoted to those positions so they don't mess up code anymore.
